The *Goddess, the *Artist, the *Writer, the *Dreamer…

An old friend once told me that the purpose of life is not to find yourself, but to make yourself. She said the concept of it all was that you survive in flux; you change a little each day. You’re a bit different tomorrow, than you are today, and you’re a bit different today, than you were yesterday. And she’s right. Life is some sort of long journey with many twisting winding paths, and for every path, it adds a facet to your personality. It shapes who you are now, and who you’ll be tomorrow, and the day after that. And because of the complexities of life, and the human condition, you never know what facet you’re going to have next. But that’s the beauty of life. It’s unpredictable, and it’s full of innumerable possibilities. And then there’s the people you meet along the way. They add to the facets as well. In some small way, whether they be friends, family, enemies, lovers, or simply passing acquaintances, they leave a facet of themselves for you, a token to remember them by. Some you see again, some you don’t, and even then, you remember them all. I’ve got a long and unpredictable journey ahead of me, and many facets glittering along its winding paths.

I’d like to meet people who dig traveling. Not just on Earth, but to other worlds entirely. People like R.A. Salvatore, who guided me to Faerun, to the Underdark and back again, and along the Western Coast of Faerun. Or Elaine Cunningham, who alleviated my fear of drow and took me from Menzoberranzan to Ruathym, to Skullport and into the streets of Waterdeep. Or Paul Kemp, who walked me through Thultanthar, sat me next to the Most High, and let me see the machinations of the most powerful magical beings in Toril. People like Jacqueline Carey, who transformed Earth, showed me beauty in the form of sensuality and love or merely the love of love. I want to meet people who enjoy luxury and relaxation, who have a covetous eye for beauty, and who enjoy idling the hours by indulging their imagination. I want to meet you.

Usually I have some colorful, pseudo-poetic diatribe that depicts just how awesome I am. But the time for that nonsense has passed. First, I’m going to tell you who I am, and then I’m going to let my friends tell you who I am. Perspective is one of those human quirks that is heavily overlooked when it comes to things like friendship.

I am Aisha. I am twenty years young and while my body grows old, my mind stays agile and young. I have an overwhelming affinity for the cultures of the Far East (only far because I can’t afford it on my salary), making me a certified Asiaphile. I’m a lazy college student that probably hasn’t been to a 9 AM class since my first year in college. I’m a native-born Nigerian. I am an amateur fantasy writer, a dancer, a dreamer, and a ribald jokester. I have a lot of talent, and charisma. I love being sociable with those of similar like and mind, and I love to laugh…even at the expense of other people (myself included). I am a recluse…and I am a hopelessly hopeless romantic, and have some far fetched hope that chivalry will make a miraculous comeback. I dislike children, but I want two of my own one day, and I adore felines and reptiles, preferably tigers and snakes. I am quick to anger and act out of revenge, but I am also quick to forgive and forget. I hate petty jealousies, and have no respect for the passive-aggressive. I guess if you can’t accept me at my worst, then you don’t deserve me at my best. I try and hold myself to that same standard, but hey, no one’s perfect.
